With a housing mix this wide, the right fix depends entirely on the window in front of us. On the older bungalows and Cape Cods near downtown, a rotted lower rail or a section of soft frame can often be rebuilt, the glazing putty renewed, and the sash freed so it slides again — no need to lose the original wavy glass or the home’s period look.
